Patience was never my thing..

So I know in my Memorial day post I said I would show my studio in a blog when the new easel arrived but I still have about a week before it’s supposed to get here (more for the wet canvas carriers since they’re on back order) So I’m just going to post a picture now and then another one when the easel arrives (fingers crossed I’ll still be good about my blogging then). So with only a little bit of stupid excitement, here is my “studio”

that wooden thing across from the stack of canvases is my old easel. Thank goodness it could still be folded up
It looks a little cramped but it’s worked with me for the 13 years we’ve lived in this house. The one big problem I have with this area, besides the fact that I really could use a space upgrade now is the lack of proper ventilation. That’s something that I think is necessary for any kind of paint (except maybe watercolors) but it’s crucial to have when you’re working with oils. I have a lot of paints that contain cadmium, which is considered to be a carcinogen (causes cancer) and this painting area happens to be in my bedroom. This isn’t a problem for most of the year since I have school and either use the class studio or don’t get to paint for a long time. But I have more free time in the summer. When the heat skyrockets, the fumes linger for weeks and actually cause health problems. So my dad was very kind and bought me a Therapure Air Purifier

I can easily say this was one of the best purchases ever, It took care of the smells so quickly!

so anyways the studio is pretty basic..completed works, works that are still in progress, all my pads and drawing supplies from last spring and fall semester classes, some canvas which will probably be completely gone by the time my summer class is finished

and of course my trusty sidekick. Although he goes back to his cage downstairs when I'm painting due to the fumes

I'll post another view of the studio when the easel arrives
